Melina As A Young Woman Paros is an artist's heaven combining the light and air of
Greece with all the subjects you can picture and then some. This workshop
involves painting in different locations about the island each morning.
Afternoons will include more painting and time to enjoy the numerous Paros

socializing with island artists and free time. For a package fee of 795 Euro the Paros Portrait Workshop offers one week of lodging, transportation, and painting instruction. Some meals are included; Greek fun and friendliness are free extras. Transportation to Paros is not included but we can help you find the best flights. Accommodation is provided by Paros Hospitality at a traditional family run "pension" (small hotel) near the beach. All the modern amenities emphasising cleanliness and comfort combined with the charm of Paros, the island hopper's favourite. Particulars by email.
From Victoria: In this workshop we will learn to draw and paint the human face, by learning the correct proportions, in every position. We will spend a small portion of the class, stimulating right brain activity; doing various drawing exercises, which will help you develop your powers of observation, and what I like to say, capturing the "soul" of the person. I will demonstrate various painting techniques of the Old Masters, Imprimatura and the ancient Portraiture application of the 4 Earth tones, which can produce hundreds of subtle yet rich tones to your painting. I will encourage you to use your ability to imagine, to see with your minds eye, or just be inspired by what you see with the beautiful island of Paros as the background! Each artist will be given personal attention, to attain their artistic vision! We will paint at inspiring and comfortable locations that will enhance and help you grow in your artistic path! From childhood I have been fascinated with faces. Since the 80's, after spending a year in Greece, the Greek Culture and Its Mythology has since been my Muse! By combining the timeless culture of Greece with present day themes, I not only stay true to my sense of beauty, but also add the dimension of another Culture to my paintings, thereby educating the observer!

Karin and I enjoy reading about a destination before our journey. We find that we get more from the experience by knowing something about the area and it's history. Know Before You Go! For North American residents we highly recommend our favorite big book store, Powell's. For Europe and the rest of the world you can't go wrong with Amazon.
